Some disappointing news for some of you; earlier today, Konami announced that Metal Gear Online would be shut down exactly 4 years after it was originally launched. The game was originally packaged with Metal Gear Solid 4 and June 12th has been announced as the official date of closure. However, to thank its dedicated fans, Konami will be organizing some key events throughout the following months.
On March 3rd, MGO Online Shop will close down. Then on April 24th, all of the downloadable content that was for sale will become free to download. However, at this point no new players will be allowed to register. On June 12th the service will finally come to a close completely.
