Piranha Games launches “Sarah’s Jenner” in memory of 5-year-old fan who died from inoperable brain cancer in May.

MechWarrior Online developer Piranha Games is currently raising money for cancer research by selling a special mech, “Sarah’s Jenner,” a unique character based on the model enjoyed by five-year-old Sarah Marie Alida Parries who died from inoperable brain cancer in May.

One hundred percent of proceeds from sales of the $10 mech will go to the Canadian Cancer Society, At press time, more than $40,000 had been collected.

“The loss of Sarah was tragic: A young girl with such a bright future cut short, and her father who has faced the ultimate fear of every parent on earth,” the developer wrote (via The Escapist). “It is difficult for us to withhold emotion and pretend that cancer is not a constant threat to all those we hold dearest.”

Those interested in purchasing the mech can do so at a special landing page for the offer. The promotion ends on August 20. Due to the special nature of the mech, it cannot be sold for C-Bills and can only be purchased once. In terms of gameplay, the mech will be treated as a regular JR7-D, but also includes a 10 percent XP boost per match played.

“Again, I can never thank all of you enough for all the time and effort you at MWO have provided,” Sarah’s father said in a statement. “It has helped a lot knowing that people out there legitimately care.”
