During its GamesCom press conference today, EA slid a big reveal between its premiere trailers and game demos. Mass Effect 2, previously an exclusive to the Xbox 360, is coming to the PlayStation 3 in January of 2011. The company didn’t share details on how it would handle other aspects of the title, like the stream of Cerberus Network downloadable content, or continuity from the first game.
With this in mind, Mass Effect 3 is almost certainly destined to be a dual-platform release. EA may even be working on parity, so that the third installment can come out on both systems simultaneously. In the meantime, PS3 owners who missed out on the highly regarded action RPG don’t have to wait much longer.
