The Following game “League of Enthusiastic Losers” was provided to me from thedailygamepad.net and was given to thedailygamepad.net for free by the developers/publishers of the game. I would like to thank the developers/publishers on behalf of thedailygamepad.net for providing a free copy of the game to play for review.

League of Enthusiastic Losers is a visual novel adventure game about taking care of yourself and your friends and not having to be miserable just because you are a loser in other people’s views.

The game starts off with you meeting best friends Vitaya, a handyman, and Volodya, A writer who has fallen on some hard times. After finding out they may be evicted for non-payment of rent they decide to go on a treasure hunt, in hopes to get out of the debt they need to repay.

The visual appeal was fantastic. because of the various media employed, it made me think of the picture books I used to read as a kid. I also appreciated that the game provided quick mini-games to break up the visual novel portion of the experience. The mini-games were also brief; I would have preferred to engage with them more. That was my only criticism. One of the various games features a dog that Vitaya and Volodya can pet after you save it, but only as Vitaya.

There are a few small oddities throughout the game, which I thought was really cool. Another thing I wanted to mention is that the title screen will only say “Play and Clear File” when you save and exit. The game does pick up where you left off if you select Play, but it would have been wonderful to have a continue option to eliminate any uncertainty about whether the game had been saved or not. I can vouch for the fact that it definitely saves.

I discovered that the handheld mode made me uneasy when it comes to the controls. On the other hand, I don’t typically play my Switch in handheld mode, therefore I don’t have the muscle memory to do so.
The game does not have a touch screen option, but I preferred playing it on the television.
However, it is still convenient to be able to play the game on the go if you so choose.

I think League of Enthusiastic Losers is a fantastic game overall and would suggest it to everyone who enjoys visual novels with an adventure element. It tells the narrative of two best friends who go through a common experience and shows how they handled it. which results in a fairly well-developed plot.

If you would like to read/play League of Enthusiastic Losers for yourself you can do so by purchasing or wishlisting the game on Steam for PC/macOS, Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Marketplace for Xbox.
