2K Games confirmed layoffs at Firaxis today, only a few months ahead of the release of Civilization V.
Global public relations director Markus Wilding told Kotaku that approximately 20 people have been laid off, including animators, programmers, designers and members of the QA and user interface art teams.
“I can confirm that Firaxis has realigned its development resources in order to streamline its development process, reduce costs and maximize the overall performance the studio,” Wilding said.
