Yesterday brought the disappointing (but not altogether surprising) news that Gran Turismo 5 would be delayed yet again, missing its presumably set-in-stone November 2 release date. Today, Polyphony Digital president Kazunori Yamauchi issued an official apology to disgruntled fans, and if it’s any consolation, he doesn’t seem very happy with himself, either.
“I’m really sorry. Everyone, it’s inexcusable,” Yamauchi wrote on his Twitter account (translation via Kotaku). He also gave at least a brief explanation for why the game suffered yet another delay, saying that, “it’s because time and labor were spent ironing the kinks out of [the game’s] complex system.” Which, appropriately, is just about what you’d expect to hear from a mechanic looking under the hood of your car.
The one silver lining, though, is that Yamauchi really does believe the game will still be out this year, and in fact will still be out before Christmas. According to Andriasang, when one of his followers on Twitter pleaded with to get the game out this year and that he didn’t want to wait until after Christmas, Yamauchi replied, “I believe we won’t keep you waiting until then.”
