Video Game Awards (VGA) organisers hint at upcoming PS3 exclusive to be revealed live during Spike TV’s annual awards on December 10; teaser site now live.
Last month, Spike TV executive producer Geoff Keighley revealed that this year’s Video Game Awards (VGAs) would play host to a number of big game announcements, from Metal Gear Solid: Rising to Microsoft’s next instalment of Alan Wake.
It now appears that Keighley wasn’t done teasing at all the 2011 VGA news just yet. On November 30, the host of this year’s awards offered up yet another tasty morsel via Twitter, declaring:
“Yes, at VGAs we will be revealing a PS3 exclusive you won’t believe. We’ll be able to share more soon.”
Keighley then followed up with another two Twitter posts about the new title: the first confirming the game’s existence; and the second linking to a teaser site for the new game, titled Last of Us, and re-confirming that the game would be revealed live during this year’s VGAs.
The teaser site currently features two clips. The first shows real-life news footage of civil unrest and rioting, with a voiceover hinting at a US-centric point of view. The second clip, shorter than the first, simply shows footage of an insect in its natural habitat, and does not feature any voiceover.
This year’s VGAs will feature announcements surrounding Metal Gear Solid: Rising, Alan Wake, and BioWare, with the latter slated to tease a new game from a new studio at the event.
Last year, the awards featured reveals of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Prototype 2, Mass Effect 3, Insane, and SSX.
The 2011 VGAs will take place on December 10, and will be broadcast live on Spike TV and MTV2, beginning at 8pm Eastern, 5pm Pacific.
