Though it’s not due out until February, Sony has detailed the bonus items fans can expect for both the special Helghast Edition and pre-orders of Killzone 3. The Helghast Edition will cost a whopping $129.99, for a slew of collectible items. The package comes in a replica of a Helghast helmet, along with a Cloaking Helghast Marksman action figure, bonus video content, an art book, and a “super voucher.” The voucher includes a download of the Killzone 3 soundtrack and PS3 Dynamic theme, a Retro Map Pack featuring maps from Killzone 2, and double XP and full access to weapons and abilities during the first 24 hours of multiplayer. The blog notes that the download packs will be available separately as well.
If you’re pre-ordering, the retailer-specific packs might help you pick where to put down your money. The Guerrilla Pack (GameStop) features the all weapons and abilities for the first 24 hours. The Fast Starter Pack (Best Buy) gives double XP for the first 24 hours. The Unlock and Load Pack (Amazon) includes 3 unlock points to use on unlocking weapons or abilities permanently. Other pre-order retailers will include the PS3 dynamic theme, and all pre-orders include the Retro Map Pack.
For those of you who want to pre-order and have money to burn for a special edition that’s more than twice the price of the regular game, it seems like Amazon is the place to do it. GameStop and Best Buy’s bonuses are redundant with what’s included in the Helghast Edition, while Amazon’s bonus unlock points are actually unique to the retailer.
