Facebook rolled out new functionality this week to allow your “friends” an even deeper look into where you are at all times, with Facebook Places. The service allows you to let people know where you are on the fly, much like FourSquare — unfortunately, due to an automatic setting allowing friends to “tag” where you are, people found themselves appearing in places that they actually weren’t.
For instance, this post’s author found himself falsely spotted in Japan, looking at their hardware sales — and that’s a straight lie! We have to imagine it was those delightful fellows at Media Create, pulling a fast one on us. They were, in fact, actually looking at the last week’s hardware sales in Japan.
