Call of Duty: Black Ops

The upcoming Kinect launch is far from the only thing happening in the Japan scene right now. Here’s a roundup of the other main titles hitting stores over there next week, courtesy of Famitsu magazine’s review pages:

Call of Duty: Black Ops (10/10/9/10, 39 points): Even in a land where first-person shooters are far from a mainstream genre, Famitsu’s editors definitely seem to understand that games like Black Ops are the cream of the crop when it comes to modern game development. “The overwhelming sense that you’re in the action is far more prevalent here than in other titles,” one writer said. “There are lots of war FPSes, but play this game, and you can really feel how far ahead of the pack the entire series is these days. The quality of the experience is second to none, and the movie-like scenes are amazing.”

“There are no dramatic changes from Modern Warfare 2,” another added, “but that doesn’t stop this from taking the throne at the cutting edge of the FPS genre.”
