As promised, Amazon has offered details on how and when the Palutena Amiibo–which is exclusive to the online retailer–will be sold.
The figure goes on sale tomorrow, July 24, at 2 PM PDT/5 PM EDT right here. Orders are limited to one per customer, and one-click ordering won’t be available (meaning you’ll need to add it to your cart and process through the standard checkout process). Amazon recommends ensuring your credit card and shipping information are correct ahead of time.
Amazon says it has “ample quanities,” but still expects it to sell out. That wouldn’t come as much of a surprise considering how many Amiibo figures have sold out in the past, and limiting this one to a single retailer will presumably only increase the chances of stock running out.
If you aren’t able to get one tomorrow, it’s possible you’ll have a chance through other retailers in the future; the original exclusivity announcement mentioned it would only be available through Amazon “at launch.”
Palutena is a somewhat lesser known character in terms of the Amiibo figures released so far. She’s a character from the Kid Icarus series, which–2012’s 3DS game Uprising aside–has largely been dormant. Palutena, along with Kid Icarus protagonist Pit, is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS.
Nintendo said earlier this year that Amiibo have “smashed” its expectations, which is part of the reason why certain figures have proven so difficult to find. The company has apologized and promised better communication, though it still hasn’t been able to keep up with demand. It’s also arguably made the task of being an Amiibo collector even more difficult, as those people are now faced with the prospect of buying a $100 Wii game.
