Grid Ranger is best described as a short-form, heart-pounding, 3D “shmup-like”—a shoot-em-up experience that’s all about dodging, weaving, and blasting your way across a minimalist grid. It feels like something plucked straight from the arcade golden age, but polished with modern sensibilities.
The visuals immediately gave me Atari Tempest vibes—and I mean that in the best way possible. I’m a sucker for games that nail the retro aesthetic while still feeling fresh and accessible. Grid Ranger nails that balance perfectly.
What really stood out is that the game is entirely mouse-controlled. At first, I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about ditching my controller, but the controls are super intuitive.
