Google’s Field Trip app promises to help you explore the world around you by running in the background and alerting you when you are close to something interesting. To help entice users to install and run the app, Google has announced 23 locations that are participating in a program to give away admission passes when a Field Trip users is close by. The number of passes available is limited, so even though the campaign will run through July 30th, some locations may no longer offer passes prior to that date.

Over half of the sites participating in the new giveaway are located in New York City or San Francisco and include locations like The Bronx Zoo, the New York Aquarium, the Walt Disney Family Museum or the Legion of Honor. Other destinations are included in Washington, DC, Los Angeles, Chicago, Portland, Reno and Seattle.

Even if you are not located in or visiting one of the cities taking part in the promotion, Google promises Field Trip will help you learn more about the world around you with a database of thousands of locations with some history or other factoid to share with you.
