We go over the highlights and lowlights of James Bond’s videogame career.
In August 1997, Nintendo and Rare surprised the world with GoldenEye 007 for Nintendo 64. It reinvented the console first-person shooter, making splitscreen multiplayer a staple in the genre until online took over.
Now, more than 13 years since GoldenEye took the world by storm, Activision and Eurocom are bringing the popular title back to life on Wii. Following the original movie with an update from the film’s screenwriter Bruce Feirstein, the new game is trying to recapture the magic of the Nintendo 64 classic while staying modern, with online multiplayer inspired by games such as Call of Duty and a single-player mode that appears to be more cinematic than the original game.
In between the two GoldenEye games, nine other James Bond games were released by EA and Activision. Most people probably don’t even remember those games, and just in case you forgot, we went over the highlights and lowlights of James Bond’s videogame career over the past 13 years.
