To celebrate one of Square Enix’s most popular gaming series to date, it was for the fans of new generation they came out with a few remake/ports of their franchise Final Fantasy. This installment is Final Fantasy 4. This time around you are given the full storyline of part four, with  The super Famicom/ Super Nintendo title, the Wiiware game called Final Fantasy 4: The After years. For the time time ever also including Interlude that binds both FF4 and After years together, which all flowed together quite nicely. Today I will go over my opinions about each segment of this content.

Final Fantasy 4: True to the tee, but however a few things were changed for some odd reason. A classic in its own right. With the Original sound track from the SNES included along with a rearranged sound track. Which both were awesome to have included in. The HD remastered graphics, were nice but I hope next time they allow you to swap between old school and new school on the fly as It does look nice, but it some what reminds me of a cellphone game, with the overall textures and character sprites. The game is still intact aside from a few minor set backs with what we knew as some named items. So expect a few things to be altered, item and or location wise. Game play is more active then your older installments of the first 3, but offer that you think on your feet, or get knocked off them.

Final Fantasy 4 Interlude: A awesome tie in for both sides of the trilogy of events. Short however and understood with a fine tooth comb the content is 15 hours long, and is only to provided enough to splice the content together. Its pretty fair stuff. now this was not my favorite of out of the two bits of content, but it surely was not bad ether.

Final Fantasy 4 The After Years: Going off of the after events as suggested in the name sake. It works off the tale of Cecils Son, Ceodore, having a front seat as plenty of the cast make a reintroduction for this second chapter giving us or those fanboys  down the block a nice and well placed together plot of interested, this time offering some new elements of game play, example the phases of the moon reflect, your melee damage, your magic damage, and or effect. All new and interesting as it added a bit of challenge. But due to this report, it seemed a bit more easy then its older Wii port brother. Again pretty great flavoring, though I hope next time they keep all content intact to preserve that nostalgia we all known and loved about the first Final Fantasy “2” game(for us in the States). This offered a great follow up to FF4 and will scale out of a well rounded and calculated example that all Final Fantasy sub sequels are bad, just misunderstood, like Mangus was in Chrono Trigger!(which is coming soon to PSN).

Closing Thoughts: 30 Dollars for all this content in my opinion is a steal, your given the classic 4th installment in the Final Fantasy dynasty, 90+ hours of timeless enjoyable storyline, and great well thought out locations to discover and Gameplay that kept to the gates of time as, structured, and what Jrpgs are ment to be.  We went through the game like this : Final Fantasy 4 >> Interlude >> The After Years. All I could say was it was long, it was worth it, and I enjoyed the great storyline foretold by 3 bits that fused together so well. Granted alot of the games were altered and made more simple, it did resolve some of the challenge but at the same time made it a bit more accessible for most gamers of all heights of the food chain. Included with the game is a Voucher for cosmetics for Dissdia as well as some collectible cards with great art work. This is a collectors wet dream. Thank you Square soft… I mean Enix! 🙂

A great collection for a remake of Final Fantasy 4. This time around on the psp. GET IT!

(9.0)

+All Offered a great storyline

+ Soundtrack original and newly remastered was top notch

+ The added CGI for the introductions were sharp and pretty awesome!

+ Gameplay is timeless and bold as a standard for most Jrpgs to follow(and did)

-The tweaking of the game did take away alot of the core

challenge and follow up gameplay.
