When I first discovered SUMMERHOUSE last year, I was just trying to get game demos for my Indie Game Showcase. I was eagerly anticipating the game’s release after falling head over heels in love with the demo. So when the creator and publishers of SUMMERHOUSE offered The Daily Gamepad a copy of the game to play for streaming and to use for this review, I was ecstatic.

As a result, I would like to inform the reader that the game “SUMMERHOUSE” was supplied to me by thedailygamepad.net and was given to the website at no cost by the game’s publishers/developers. On behalf of thedailygamepad.net, I would like to thank the publishers and developers for giving me a free copy of the game to play for this video and review.

SUMMERHOUSE is not your average building game. It’s a relaxing experience disguised as a cute little sandbox. Forget huge cities and complex ambitions. Here, the emphasis is on sheer creativity and the enjoyment of creating little dream dwellings.

SUMMERHOUSE’s basic gameplay focuses on building residences in a variety of gorgeous environments, including beach cliffs, bustling cityscapes, and calm mountain slopes. You’re given a set of unique blocks that allow you to build dwellings in any manner you like. Want a quirky cottage with a flower-filled roof? Or how about a sleek modern flat with a view of the ocean? The choice is entirely up to you.

There are no objectives to pursue. You are free to use your imagination and design whatever you want. The tranquil melody and appealing images create a soothing ambiance, ideal for unwinding after a hard day.

SUMMERHOUSE is more than just a building game; it provokes intense feelings of nostalgia. The pastel color scheme and overall feel evoke memories of carefree summer afternoons as a child. The little elements, such as wispy smoke rising from chimneys and birds chirping in the background, add to the experience.

While there are no specific objectives, SUMMERHOUSE does have a few hidden surprises for you to find. As you explore the various areas and experiment with your construction, you may encounter some surprises. These minor discoveries provide a sense of interest and motivate you to continue exploring the game’s creative potential.

All things considered, SUMMERHOUSE is a welcome respite from the hectic gaming industry. It’s a game where harmony and ingenuity are valued above rivalry and difficulty. Summerhouse is a great option if you’re searching for a tranquil haven where you may explore your creative side and immerse yourself in the thrill of construction.

You can buy SUMMERHOUSE on Steam, where it was launched on March 8, 2024 for PC and macOS, if you want to play it for yourself. Although the game is normally priced at $4.99 USD, it is now only $3.99 USD through March 22, 2024.

By Ready Sets Gaming

Ready Sets Gaming is a variety streamer on Twitch with a love and passion for indie games. She has been gaming for 30+ years; and feels that a lot of indie games go back to the games that she grew up with and aren't afraid to think outside of the box to make a game. It is because of this thought process that she prefers to play a majority of indie titles, but still likes to play Triple-A titles and Retro games too. She enjoys searching through itch.io platform and looking for games that are stream friendly, and then playing them on stream to get them the exposure they may not be getting. Some of her favorite game genres include Platformers, Puzzlers, Role-Playing and she's recently developed a loved for Shmups.
