The Following game “Alterium Shift” was provided to me from thedailygamepad.net and was given to thedailygamepad.net for free by the developers/publishers of the game. I would like to thank the developers/publishers on behalf of thedailygamepad.net for providing a free copy of the game to play for this video and for review.

The following Gameplay Footage of “Alterium Shift” and review is an early access version of the game. Therefore, the footage you see may or may not be featured in the final version of the game, also there may be some noticeable bugs in the game. Also, keep in mind that this review is based upon the Early Access of the game.

In this Live Stream which was Broadcasted live on Twitch, Ready Sets Gaming Alterium Shift plays on PC.

Alterium Shift is a retro-styled JRPG that offers a fresh experience with each playthrough thanks to its three branching stories and fascinating characters. Travel through Alteria’s living environment to experience its dynamic quests, distinct turn-based combat, and narratives that are guided by player choices.

When the game starts you can choose from Pyra, who appears to be a warrior who uses a spear. Atlas, who appears to be a sweet and gentle ranger, and Sage, a mage who has a cocky attitude and ego. For my playthrough, I choose to play as Sage, because well Sage the Mage has a nice ring You can start the game as Pyra, who resembles a warrior and wields a spear. Sage, a mage with an arrogant attitude, and Atlas, who seems to be a kind and caring ranger. I choose to play as Sage for my playthrough because, well, Sage the Mage has a lovely ring to it.

I won’t dwell too much on the tale because I want to keep it a secret and I want other gamers to be able to experience it for themselves. I appreciate that you have to interact with each character to get a fresh perspective on the story. I also adore how distinct each character is because personality drives the plot. It’s wonderful to have three characters to choose from, even though I’m not sure if they represent the game’s various gameplay tiers.

I can honestly state that for a game in early access, this one is on the correct track. I’d like to start by expressing my gratitude that the game has both an auto-save and a manual save feature. This makes me pleased primarily because there have been RPGs in the past that will automatically save at the worst possible time with nothing you can do to prevent it. Therefore, having a manual save is a really smart idea.

When it comes to the controls for the game, the game recommends you play with a controller so I choose to play with the controller. One of the things I would like is if it explained how to walk. For everything in me, I couldn’t get Sage to walk and all they would do was run. I try lightly holding the analog stick. I tried tapping it I even tried the directional pad, but Sage just kept running. One of the opening quests it requires you to walk, but because I couldn’t figure it out, I skipped that mission.

If you liked the visual aesthetic of Octopath Traveler and Chrono Trigger, you’ll love this game’s visuals. I’d want to remind you once more that the game is still in Early Access, which means it’s not done. You must play with all three characters in order to lengthen the game. The game does, however, feature at least two acts.

With that being said, again Alterium Shift is off to a promising part, and I can’t wait to play more of the game as the developers continue to work on the game. If you would like to play Alterium Shift in it’s early access format you can do so on PC, macOS, Steam OS, Linux on Steam. It is currently on sale for $15.99 USD until July 12, 2023. After the game will return to it’s regular price is $19.99 USD, and again a humble thank you to the developers and publishers for providing us at thedailygamepad.net with a free copy of the game.

She has been gaming for 30+ years; and feels that a lot of indie games go back to the games that she grew up with and aren't afraid to think outside of the box to make a game. It is because of this thought process that she prefers to play a majority of indie titles, but still likes to play Triple-A titles and Retro games too. She enjoys searching through itch.io platform and looking for games that are stream friendly, and then playing them on stream to get them the exposure they may not be getting.
