“FIFA continues to be very strong,” says EA, which has been making FIFA games since 1993.
EA and FIFA have extended their long-running video game licensing agreement to 2022.
The licensing agreement grants EA the exclusive rights to develop games with the FIFA license, including titles based on the FIFA World Cup.
EA has been making FIFA games since 1993, and the series has become one of the publisher’s most profitable global titles: EA announced last night that sales of FIFA 13 had reached 14.5 million copies.
Last month the publisher announced FIFA 14 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, and “additional platforms.”
“”EA Sports released the first FIFA-branded soccer game in 1993, and 20 years later our partnership with FIFA continues to be very strong, said EA Sports boss Andrew Wilson.
“Our relationship with EA Sports is of high importance to FIFA, added FIFA secretary general Jérôme Valcke. The FIFA videogames are a key experiential component in our work to communicate the FIFA brand and its values all over the world.”
