GameSpot — 9/10

“DmC in its Definitive Edition form isn’t just a lick of paint and a technical upgrade. It’s a hardcore twist on already impressive game, making the hack ‘n’ slash action more difficult, but also more compelling than before. The numerous tweaks and upgrades of DmC: Devil May Cry Definitive Edition have made a game that isn’t just a better version of DmC, but a bonafide hack ‘n’ slash classic.” – Mark Walton [Full review]

Game Informer — 9/10

“No game is perfect. Even when we play the best ones, we find things that we wish the developer had done differently. Devil May Cry: Definitive Edition is a rare case where the developer goes back and fixes those things, big and small. Whether you’re a newcomer or a devoted fan, this is a remaster done right.” – Joe Juba [Full review]

IGN — 8.9/10

“DmC Devil May Cry: Definitive Edition brings the same great game to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, along with a couple of tweaks to make it feel different for returning veterans. The sharper visuals, smooth 60-fps gameplay, and other features and enhancements gave me plenty of reasons to be happy about coming back, and to recommend that you pick it up for the first time.” – Jose Otero [Full review]

GamesRadar+ — 4/5

“DmC’s frenzied monster-clobbering is moreish enough to tempt me back. Given the current release crop on Xbox One and PS4, DmC should be the go-to choice for hack-and-slash connoisseurs. Who knows, maybe you’ll even come to not-hate punk Dante.” – Tom Senior [Full review]

USGamer — 4.5/5

“DmC Definitive Edition beefs up the excellent original with better graphics, all the DLC, retuned combat, and a host of difficulty modes. If you loved the original, Definitive is better. If you were avoiding it because you’re a Devil May Cry purist, Definitive is closer to the original series than ever before.” – Mike Williams [Full review]

Polygon — 8/10

“It’s a nice collection for the completionist, especially if you’ve been looking for a great character action game on PS4 or Xbox One. But if you already played DmC: Devil May Cry on last-gen consoles, there’s not a lot of reason for the return trip.” – Philip Kollar [Full review]
