At first when we heard about this we assumed it was a old April fools joke, then reconsidered that people are just that crazy and open to inside jokes and or concept for Mods out there. Best of the best mod made to commercial game? First lets take a look at the Publishers/Developers words for the game and lets discuss if it all stacks up:

About the Game

“The year is 1942. Adolf Hitler has succeeded in resurrecting dinosaurs. The reptilian horde has trampled Europe and the Mediterranean. Can nothing stop the Nazi’s dinosaur army?

Dino D-Day is a frantic, action-packed multiplayer game that transports you to a World War II that should have been. You and your friends can battle online choosing to serve the cause of the Allied nations or the Nazis. The Allied side includes six playable characters each with unique weapons and abilities to use in combat. Gun down a Dilophosaur with your trusty M1 Garand, blast a kamikaze pterosaur out of the sky with your Thompson sub-machine gun, or toss out a dead jackrabbit to lure a raptor into a trap.

As an Axis player you will have your choice of three human classes and three dinosaur classes. Ambush your enemy with speed and stealth as the Raptor, mercilessly pound the enemy with a heavy 20mm gun as the Desmatosuchus, rampage through enemy groups as the Dilophosaur or pick up a body and throw it at an enemy for a double kill! Or if you prefer a rifle in your hand, the German soldier classes are the perfect complement to their dinosaur comrades.”

The game is as it describes. You are granted the said classes which all to a point work as mentioned. As the Allied forces you have to deal with  Dinosaurs and 3 random Nazi guys. The controls handle just as any source game does, featuring that blur in effect during the intro of the menu selection screen giving you the feeling, yes this is Valve’s Engine alright.

now that the other team having Dinosaurs on the Nazis team would that make a even fighting ground? Well yes, and no, now think Left 4 Dead with Infected Vs Survivors, cut the Infected in half, give them guns, and you pretty much have the round up. The game play is like typically like most Competitive FPS games you played, nothing major to really mention other then the combat is just straight forward objectives you follow threw with your team mates and get the job done.

Alot of the modes give you “blow this up” and “capture that”, as well as Team Deathmatch, as for the fact this game is online only. So do not expect a epic story plot.

Closing Thoughts:

With most games published having a sort of Team Fortress feel to them, with a working form, it isn’t bad to see stuff mixed together and or given in a interesting format. While after a bit of time, I mixed between all the characters and had a few complaints personally, the ability to swap your class is totally apparent. Leaving the choice to find your favorite character out to new games if your the type to just wait til the option becomes open to you. The art style and the humor behind “Nazi Dinosaurs” makes for a very funny theme. As for the setting is all mostly what you expect from most WW2 games to date. Though with all that said, some points you feel somewhat bored with some of the game modes and hope for more like a Horde mode for Dinosaurs or something else other then the same old game modes. The size of the content is somewhat small. With hopeful content updates and more levels and things to play with we hope the best for this game none the less due to much fun while playing this game! But hell if you can punch a T Rex in the face, it wins our vote.
