Since 2008 when Diablo III was announced, gamers have been waiting to hear the inevitable release date for the game and finally we have one: May 15th, 2012. Available in most regions, gamers will be able to get the game either through a retail version or digital download. For those in Latin America or Russia, you’ll have to wait until June 7th for your release.
Mike Morhaime, CEO of Blizzard Entertainment, had this to say about the announcement: “After many years of hard work by our development team, and months of beta testing by hundreds of thousands of dedicated players around the world, we’re now in the homestretch. We look forward to putting the final polish on Diablo III over the next two months and delivering the ultimate action-RPG experience to gamers worldwide starting on May 15.”
Blizzard couldn’t just release a standard version of the game, though that one only costs $59.99. Diablo III is going to have a collector’s edition which will cost you one penny short of $100. It comes with the full game, a behind-the-scenes Blu-ray two disc set, a soundtrack, a 208 page art book, and a 4GB USB drive that’ll come with a copy of Diablo II with its expansion pack. For those who purchase the collector’s edition, you’ll also get exclusive in-game items for Diablo III, Starcraft II & World of Warcraft.
