Bungie hasn’t said much at all about Destiny‘s competitive multiplayer mode to date, but with the game’s September 9 release date approaching, the developer has chosen E3 to finally show it off.

The developer confirmed the news in an interview with the PlayStation Blog. E3 is not open to the public, but you can expect that details about Destiny’s multiplayer mode will emerge from the show in one way or another.

Bungie is of course known for multiplayer. The Halo series is widely considered to be one of most refined multiplayer experiences available on consoles, and fans of that franchise–now run by Microsoft–are no doubt keeping close tabs on what Destiny will have on offer.

Also in the interview, Bungie discussed the upcoming Destiny beta. Community manager Eric Osborne didn’t go into specifics about what it will offer, but teased that it boasts a “huge slice of content.” Bungie COO Pete Parsons added that he hopes millions of people play the beta, as it will not only serve as an introduction for players to the world, but also as a stress test for the game’s servers, he said.

The Destiny beta kicks off this summer, first on PlayStation platforms, before coming later to Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Finally, Bungie has released a new video that covers the armor, weapons, and loot you can expect from Destiny. Guns on offer include fire-spewing shotguns and “head-melting” fusion rifles, as well as traditional pistols and rifles. There are three main weapon categories–Primary, Special, and Heavy–though there are also numerous sub-categories like auto rifles and full-auto assault rifles. Check out the video above for more.
