The upcoming release of Destiny‘s second expansion, House of Wolves, won’t be the final extension of the game, not by a long shot.
Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg said today that Destiny will receive a “major content release” this fall and then something more after that, presumably in 2016 and beyond.
“We have a second [Destiny] expansion on the way, and a major content release coming in the fall,” Hirshberg said. “And a very robust pipeline planned after that.”
Bungie first referenced this new Destiny content earlier today, though no official details are available about it. Back in November 2014, Activision confirmed that Bungie had begun work on the “next full game release” in the Destiny series.
It’s not much of a surprise that Activision would be planning to support Destiny for a long, long time, given the company’s sizable investment in the series. On top of that, Bungie has itself spoken previously of having a 10-year, Lord of the Rings-sized vision for the game.
Destiny’s House of Wolves expansion will be released in the April-June quarter.
