Limited Edition version of EA’s survival horror space shooter includes replica of Isaac’s sidearm, soundtrack, DLC, lithograph; Ignition offered to preorderers.
Dead Space 2 will be one of Electronic Arts’ anchoring first-quarter releases when it arrives for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on January 25. Already, the publisher has indicated that the game will receive a limited-edition package, saying as part of the 2010 Electronic Entertainment Expo that the PlayStation 3 edition would include a Move-compatible version of Dead Space: Extraction.
Today, EA officially announced the Dead Space 2 Collector’s Edition, and it turns out a free game won’t be the only goodie PS3 owners will be getting with their purchase. EA has also confirmed that the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC editions of the limited-edition package will include a replica of protagonist Isaac’s Plasma Cutter. Modeled after the weapon’s tweaked design in Dead Space 2, the Plasma Cutter also features trigger-activated LED lights.
That won’t be the only perk, however. Also included in the package will be a redeemable code for exclusive access to the Unitology Suit and Force Gun, as well as a lithograph depicting concept art of a necromorph transformation. Lastly, gamers will be offered a soundtrack CD, compiling an hour of the game’s tunes and a “Scoring of Dead Space 2” featurette.
Additionally, those who preorder the game at participating retailers will also gain access to Dead Space Ignition, the downloadable prequel that launched this week through Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network.
EA has not yet announced a price for the Dead Space 2 Collector’s Edition. For more information, check out GameSpot’s previous coverage of the game.
