THQ sequel to last year’s apocalyptic action game depicts the end of the world from the perspective of Death instead of War.
Gamers can get ready to saddle up as a Horseman of the Apocalypse once again, as THQ today confirmed Darksiders II would arrive for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC sometime in 2012.
The publisher included few details about the game in its announcement, but did specify that the game would follow the horseman Death instead of the original game’s protagonist, War. Darksiders II will tell a parallel story to the original instead of continuing on from that title’s conclusion. In the game, Death will attempt to clear War’s “good” name (he’s accused of starting the end of times ahead of time) and save mankind in the process.
As for gameplay specifics, THQ said that Darksiders II will feature “a dramatically larger world.” Along with the larger world, the publisher is planning to give players upgradeable equipment, new enemies, and bigger dungeons.
Although this is the first time details on Darksiders II have been divulged, the game’s existence is no surprise. The original Darksiders had been on store shelves barely a month when the publisher publicly penciled in a sequel to the apocalyptic action game.
