Dime a dozen we get plenty of platformers from the indle scene combining new and classic titles. We are always welcome to thus said point and await to see new ideas to combine to the simple sidescrolling aspects.
Today we review Crescent Pale Mist, something really interesting combining Bullet hell, and side-scrolling action. “In the beautiful and unstable dimension of Gasyukal, a world caught between worlds,
you are Yunou – the only magician powerful enough to control the mysterious and volatile magic known as Pale Mist. With Pale Mist seeping from an unknown source to increasingly dangerous levels,
it is up to you to put a stop to those responsible for the dreadful and unwieldy magic. Wrought with surprise challenges in a labyrinthine dimension, Crescent Pale Mist is an ethereal journey with exciting magic
and teeth-clenching blade-fighting action – a fantasy game you won’t soon forget!” As the quotes described its really put as it is mentioned the world is a retro PS2 era.
You span across 6 but somewhat short locations. The artstyle and blend of 3d backdrops and the feeling of over whelming odds at points
brings you to your main character “Yunou”. Her setting for the game seemed well placed and fit the approach of the game. Now at one look most would assume this was directed at most of the female gamers out there due to the manga graphic novel style to the story telling. But be assured this isn’t you’re kid sisters Card Captors.
The combat system is where I mentioned “Bullet Hell” kicks off. Alot of flashing and dazzling effects fulfill you’re screen hence before people jump on the simple looking interface. be aware, that’s due to all of the effecting going on at once would case alot of frame rate drops. Now with a few things mentioned for this game.
The game is pretty darn good! WE can not recall honestly when a game tested you and made you work for your goal like this game has for us. For one the boss battles are almost 2D proud epic, featuring flickering and spinning bullet hell goodness. Your sword to gather health you can pretty much stand toe to toe with most of the massive bosses dish out. The whole game is a great valve, the sound and music is some what catchy. While the game is solid, I do not see anything honestly wrong with the game overall. If you enjoy classic side-scrolling style games, this is for you.
I give the game a overall score of 8.5 Solid
+ Great 2D presentation
+Arcade style game play
+Giant freaking bosses
– After one play-through, you would feel spent
