The visual style of the 8-bit classic Contra has its roots in 80s action films like Predator and Rambo, all the way down to the boxart. Now The Expendables is bringing things full-circle with an 8-bit shooter of its own.
An 8-bit Contra clone based on the upcoming film has been released to Facebook, which can be accessed by “Liking” it. The available characters are Jet Li, Jason Statham and Sylvester Stallone, all of whom have different fighting styles.
The movie reunites a host of action stars from the 80s, 90s and 00s, with everyone from Arnold Schwarzenegger to “Stone Cold” Steve Austin joining the fun. It’ll be out August 13.
