Comedy Central and fellow MTV Networks-owned channel Spike TV have teamed up to establish 345 Games, a new videogame unit that will produce games based on the various brands owned by MTV Networks Entertainment Group.
The first two games to come from 345 will be based on Comedy Central’s Ugly Americans and Spike TV’s Deadliest Warrior, the latter of which saw a downloadable game release last year in Deadliest Warrior: The Game for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. (According to MTV, the game has sold “nearly” 400,000 copies.) Both will be “fully supported on-air, off-air and online,” so expect to see plenty of advertising for them when watching either channel or visiting their respective websites.
“Comedy Central and Spike TV squarely target the video game audience. Our Deadliest Warrior gaming franchise exploded out of the gate last season,” said 345 General Manager Dan Yang. “With the launch of 345 Games, we are tapping into the passionate fan base of both Comedy Central and Spike and creating an enhanced interactive experience based on our hit shows and brands.”
