With its release date now only four months away, a batch of brand new Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens pictures have been released. Published as part of a story in the new issue of Entertainment Weekly, the eleven images are a mix of movie stills and behind-the-scenes shots.
Among the pictures are fresh looks at some of the film’s new characters, including a trio of villains–General Hux (Domhnall Gleeson), the lightsaber-wielding Kylo Renn (Adam Driver), and the chrome-helmeted Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie). There are also more images of new heroes played by John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, and Oscar Isaac, old favorites C-3PO and R2-D2, plus director JJ Abrams working with writer Lawrence Kasdan on set. Click on the images below to see the full-size versions.
The EW article also contains a bit more plot information about the film. It states:
“The Empire has morphed into a junta known as The First Order, while X-Wing pilots like Oscar Isaac’s Poe Dameron now fly for a splinter group known as the Resistance. Princess Leia has come into possession of the lightsaber once possessed by her father, Darth Vader, and later lost by Luke when Vader separated him from his arm during that “join me” duel in The Empire Strikes Back.”
Stars Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens blasts into cinemas on December 18, 2015. The next installment in the Battlefront series, developed by Battlefield studio DICE, arrives in November for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. The game will also feature free DLC that ties directly into Episode 7, an expansion entitled The Battle of Jakku.
