Casual Fun for Those Fall Nights

By GeekyGamerGirl87

Summer has been pretty good to us in terms of games, but now we are heading into the month of September. For some that means going back to school, possibly going back to work (if you are a teacher) or working a little more diligently and longer now that the kids are going back to school. If you’re in college you might be already struggling with that 35-page report that your professor has already assign and it may need to be turned in by the end of the week. For most this means that you may feel like you don’t have time to play any intense games you may have been playing during the summer. Poor Summer, where did you go? Maybe you’re looking for something just to take off the edge of a long day or something to just take a break from the daily grind but just don’t know where to look. Well fear not, for I have complied a simple list of games that you can enjoy after your long days during the fall. These games are casual but are still fun and can help you to take off that edge.

Created by a team of three, Loot Keeper is a game for those who like to organize inventories in games. A mix between an adventure game and organizing your inventory. So, it’s more about paying attention to what is going on with your inventory. The fights are all automatically done, so to be successful in the fight it depends on your stats which is adjusted by the armor you equip. You must be quick on your toes, and although you must be quick the game does give you a little time to figure out what items you want to keep.  You must do this before the timer reaches zero, because any items in your inventory that are touching and red, will disappear forever.  The music is relaxing which can pull you into the game even more. If you are interested in playing Loot Keeper, you can get the game from itch.io for free.

Tiny Kingdom Builder
Developer: Oddly Shaped Pixels
Publisher: N/A
Genre: Casual Puzzle
Release Date: August 14, 2018
Platforms: PC/Web Based
Price: Free to Play
Where to buy: Gamejolt, itch.io

The last game on the list is another game I came across through my searches on Gamejolt. If puzzle games are more of your style or you are a lover of match games, or even Tetris; Tiny Kingdom Builder does a great job of combining all three of those games into one. Created by Oddly Shaped Pixels, Tiny Kingdom Builder is a puzzle game in which you are faced with a grid and you add pieces of land to the grid. To score points as well as increase your time, you must match the pieces of land together. If the land includes gems you get more points. Once the grid is full all matches will be removed, and points and time added. If there is a piece you can’t use you simple can use the hold option to hold it until you do need it.  The game is over when the time runs out or the grid cannot release any matches. The game is for PC and is also Web Based. I attempted to play the PC version of the game, but could not get it to load, so for this one you are going to want to play the web-based version of the game. If you are interested in playing Tiny Kingdom Builder for yourself you can play the game for free on Gamejolt or itch.io.

Whether you are looking for a game to play during the fall to relax, or just need something new to pass the time. I assure you that these games will do just that for you. I played all the games and found them all to be very relaxing. There were a lot of other games I could have included, but these were the ones that really stuck with me after playing them. No matter what the Fall brings, here’s at least hoping that these games will help you to unwind after a long stressful day.
