CARNAGE OFFERING is set in a bleak society in the year 2527, with Jake, an engineer and bounty hunter, traveling to the distant ends of the universe by wormhole. Jake’s mission, along with that of his companion Roy, is to eliminate the replicator robots that threaten the Confederate worlds.

CARNAGE OFFERING is an FPS made by Furturtech and released by Nova’s Army, because it had been so long since I last played an FPS, and I had played their tower defense game in September of 2023, I was quite interested in how the FPS game would play. When you start the game, you can choose your difficulty level, which runs from Too Easy to Impossible. So, when I initially started playing, I started with the Normal setting to put the game to the test, and it was a touch too challenging for me even at that level.

There was clearly some change that needs to be made to the difficulty levels of the game. If I struggled with the difficulties on Normal mode, I can only think how challenging Impossible mode would be. When I started my stream, I believed I had selected Easy Mode, but when I returned to the Main Menu, the game was still set to Normal Mode. So I ended up moving down to Too Easy; again, I have no guilt in lowering the difficulty level so that I can enjoy it.

Even in Too Easy setting, I still struggled a little. Now, I generally play FPS games using a controller [I know, “How dare I?!”], but because my Xbox Controller died last week and the game could not be played with the DualShock Controller, I had to play with a keyboard and mouse. So it took some time to acclimate because the last time I used a keyboard and mouse was to play Overwatch or Paladins.

Now, after I got into the game, I discovered it to be a lot of fun. I also greatly loved the game’s music. The gameplay was fascinating, as you battled waves of opponents. Yes, there are certain objectives, but the game appears to be mostly focused on defeating waves of opponents. This brings me to the second point: the gameplay is a bit grindy. You start with two guns, a pistol, and an LMG, and then you must purchase all of your upgrades, which include new armor and guns, as well as upgrades for those. This is not an issue, but some of the costs are high, so you will find yourself replaying levels over and over again to obtain money.

The game handles well on the first level. However, when I tried to play level 2, the game started to stutter. I was able to complete the level, although it was a little unsettling when it stuttered because performance in FPS’s is critical, as any lag or stutter can lead to death. So I adjusted the graphics for the game, but I still had stuttering issues on level 2, so it would be wonderful if the game could be better tuned for that.

Overall, CARNAGE OFFERING remains enjoyable to play if you appreciate grinding games and FPS with fantastic soundtracks. Remember that if you wish to play using a controller, you must have an XBOX controller; otherwise, controls are limited to a keyboard and mouse. If you want to play CARNAGE OFFERING, you can get it on Steam for 9.99 USD.

Ready Sets Gaming is a variety streamer on Twitch with a love and passion for indie games. She has been gaming for 30+ years; and feels that a lot of indie games go back to the games that she grew up with and aren't afraid to think outside of the box to make a game. It is because of this thought process that she prefers to play a majority of indie titles, but still likes to play Triple-A titles and Retro games too. She enjoys searching through itch.io platform and looking for games that are stream friendly, and then playing them on stream to get them the exposure they may not be getting. Some of her favorite game genres include Platformers, Puzzlers, Role-Playing and she's recently developed a loved for Shmups.
