Dungeon Defenders releases a new class and a set of new missions, and to top all that off you also get a unicorn pet. Separately, the packs sell for $1.99 for the Assault Mission Pack as well as the new Barbarian for $2.99, but for this week only you can save $2 as each DLC pack has a dollar off. For those who don’t want to wait any longer, you can purchase the Barbarian class and Assault Mission pack now.
To break down the Barbarian character, Trendy Entertainment gave us some details about the character class. Using two different melee weapons at the same time, the Barbarian will have a different way of competing being more of a tank class. The Barbarian won’t use towers; instead, you’ll have to choose between different stances: the Tornado stance, Lightning stance, Siphon stance, Turtle stance & Hawk stance.
The Tornado stance will allow Barbarian attacks to be over quicker than other classes, but will use low damage attacks. The Lightning stance will use lightning to stun enemies, then continue to hammer damage down on enemies. The Siphon stance will be the vampire type stance as you’ll have the chance to absorb opponents health. The Turtle stance is very defensive and decreases character’s mobility. Finally, the Hawk stance summons an extra pet hawk which will deal one massive amount of damage.
There were no details given for the Assault Mission pack other than it includes a brand-new map and three new missions. According to the Steam purchase page for the mission pack, the missions will be entitled as the following: Etherian Mines Assault, Mistymire Forest Assault & Lifestream Hollow. Three new weapons will be included in the pack along with the Rainbow Unicorn pet. For those who haven’t purchased any of the DLC, you can get it all for $12.99 by the end of the week.
The new packs come with an unofficial announcement though. According to statements received by Strategy Informer, Trendy Entertainment has no intentions of releasing any DLC for the Xbox 360 and PS3 version of the game. As the Xbox 360 version less than one-hundred thousand, this inevitable announcement doesn’t come as a shock to me. This is Trendy’s official statement on the DLC coming to consoles: “we’ve decided it’s unfeasible from both a technical and business standpoint to bring the PC-only content to the console versions.”
With bits of the console version of the game teasing characters which have been made available within DLC, some console gamers may feel frustrated for their dedication to the title not being fulfilled. Sony still plans on releasing their PS Vita version of the title sometime this year but no release date has been announced as the handheld gets released next week.
