Disney CEO Bob Iger appeared on stage today at the D23 Expo to reveal that Star Wars-themed “lands” are coming to Disney’s marquee parks in Anaheim, California and Orlando, Florida.

Iger described Disney’s plans are “ambitious,” saying the Star Wars lands will be the “largest single-themed land expansions ever.” They will be 14 acres each.

The new Star Wars spaces will transport “guests to a never-before-seen planet, a remote trading port, and one of the last stops before wild space where Star Wars characters and their stories come to life.”

Each Star Wars land will have two “signature attractions,” one of which will be a an attraction/ride that lets you pilot the Millennium Falcon on a secret mission. The other marquee attraction will be an “epic Star Wars adventure that puts guests in the middle of a climatic battle.”

No further details were announced, and don’t expect to see these new Star Wars lands at Disney Parks anytime soon, as it sounds like it’s still very early days. But it’s an exciting prospect all the same.
