If you have ever been holding your smartphone and thought to yourself, “I wish I could flip this thing open like we did with flip phones back in the day in order to use an old style number pad,” Samsung may have just what you need. Over the past few weeks we have seen a couple rumors about a Samsung device with a clamshell form factor going by the name “Samsung Galaxy Folder.” A new image has surfaced confirming such a device is real. Sources indicate “Galaxy Golden” is the name Samsung may use to market the device.

The most recently pictured device, the SHV-E400K, is reported to be equipped with a Snapdragon 400 processor running at 1.7GHz, 2GB of RAM, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, and is LTE capable. The two screens are both WVGA.

You may have noticed the model number for this latest device differs from previous reports of the clamshell smartphone. Previous leaks had the model designation as SCH-W789, so it is not clear whether this is the same device or whether Samsung may have two clamshell devices in the works.

The Galaxy Golden is supposedly headed to the South Korean markets with carriers SKT and KT. There is a chance it could land on China Mobile as well. Outside of those markets, it is not clear whether Samsung will send it anywhere else.
