Way back when the Wii MotionPlus was first revealed, Nintendo teased that they may eventually release new Wii remotes with the technology built in — no more having to connect a separate add-on in the back. Now it looks like it only took them about a year and a half after MotionPlus’s release to make it happen, as GameStop’s listing for FlingSmash reveals a new “Wii Remote Plus” controller will be included as a pack-in bonus.
As you can see in the listing (via Eurogamer), the image of the controller clearly shows a Wii remote on FlingSmash’s box cover, along with the words “BONUS — Wii Remote Plus inside!” A Nintendo spokesperson later confirmed to Eurogamer that the Wii Remote Plus “is real,” but that Nintendo had “nothing to announce on this at the moment.”
It would make sense to include such a new controller with FlingSmash (which is set for release in November), considering it’s a game that requires MotionPlus to work. It’s described as an action-sidescroller, with players using their MotionPlus-equpied Wii Remote (or Wii Remote Plus) to fling the game’s hero into objects and smash them apart (get it?).
