UPDATE: APB’s website has updated with a notice that the game’s servers are officially shutting down. Realtime Worlds’ full message to the community follows:
“APB has been a fantastic journey, but unfortunately that journey has come to a premature end. Today we are sad to announce that despite everyone’s best efforts to keep the service running; APB is coming to a close. It’s been a pleasure working on APB and with all its players. Together we were building an absolutely amazing game, and for that, we thank you. You guys are awesome!
“From all of the Realtime World staff we thank you for your continued support.
“The servers are still up, so join the party and say goodbye!”
ORIGINAL STORY: Original Crackdown developer Realtime Worlds may be closing up shop for good very soon. Multiple sources have informed Edge that the financially-troubled studio will be shuttering its offices tomorrow, in addition to shutting down the recently-released online shooter APB.
In addition to tips from Edge’s anonymous insiders, fans on the official APB forums have also noted that the game has disappeared from digital retailers like Steam and Direct 2 Drive. Moreover, some brick-and-mortar shops have also reportedly pulled APB from shelves.
