Do you remember Dark Seed? The surreal adventure game that had cruel dark art work none other then from the Legend of dark art himself H.R. Giger? If you loved that series and his work, you are in for a treat here. The team behind OhNoo Studio launched a very successful Indiegogo campaign bringing this game to light. From this, a very appealing and clean look for a what I like to call a on rails style to point and click adventure games. At first the trailer was a bit deceiving of what style the game was about but I was not disappointed, as I do like these sort of adventure games as well. The story is basic as they come, but the setting and theme is never as dull as they could be. You are greeted by a introduction of a nameless hooded man ( I will name him George Thunderbuns), of which has no actual memory of who he is or what he has done to deserve the brisk and harsh treatment of being lofted away on a precarious big flying machine. You land into a dank dark, and skeleton invested cell of couch your only friend is a bird of which people construct to be Crows. From that point on, your character(George Thunderbuns) is usually just a set piece for every one of the eighty locations you navigate through with arrows and or door icons. The game itself is crammed full of clever, and simplified puzzles to solve. Reminding me massively of Dr Brain.

The setting itself is just so dark and pretty, everything showing life, and grim detail. Much like the master of the Alien Xenomorph himself H.R. Giger did for all of his creations. The weird vibe I received from the game is it felt like H.P. Lovecraft was telling me a very brief story, then Giger, came in like wrecking ball right into my face. Leaving me with a starry landscape of his work. If anything you can take from the game is its very well made artwork. The artwork is in a digitally painted style that is 2D in terms of presentation.

The game itself borrows ideas from a general adventure game. Cutting out the middle man, meaning you will simply see Thunderbuns hanging out while you search the room for items, or speak with NPCs /characters. In better words Thunderbuns does not move across the screen.  It also has the vibe of most of those item search games, without the iSpy mechanic.  All of which are title swapping, tapping some piano keys, and connecting some pipes. These are a few of the commonly used ones I have seen already quite a bit in most of these games. They were not a bad distraction. Just were not as special. The game lasted over two hours long overall. This included me achievement hunting, as well as figuring out what to do next. Navigation is handled fully with your mouse. From scene to scene with arrows on corners of the screen. Puzzles usually create a new screen focusing you on the puzzles This applies for cabinets, or smaller areas that require your attention to obtain items. Everything other then looking like still images at points so have pretty smooth animation as you interact with characters to switches. The puzzles themselves is the core focus I think of the game, yeah a lot of them were your typical brain teasers, to simple tile swap sepal. This game has a good chunk of puzzles to keep your buns busy. I did not personally remember to count them all, but well over fifteen plus.

07In Closing:

The game itself overall was pretty fun. Everything was almost bug free (darn piano, grumble grumble) from start to finish. I found the price suggested is pretty responsible at $11.99 for what you actually receive. Which is full of top quality production, including its visual style, and music. I know a few friends who prefer to have hard copies of generally any game on the market, so I have a cure for them if those said folks show a fancy to anything mentioned above. However if you enjoy physical media like myself, or just like swag or to own the game itself(for the Anti-DRM fanatics), they do offer a hard copy of the game. As well as a art-book + game bundle. Both around the cost if you were to buy a AAA game of standard. Other then that you can just buy it from steam from the link above.
