Cooperative multiplayer was a new feature promised for Portal 2 when the game was first announced earlier this year, and now we finally have a first look (albeit very brief) at how playing with a partner will actually work in this mind-bending puzzle game.
The video comes by way of GameTrailers TV (embed below), and sadly, the only actual gameplay footage shown is a quick — although very tantalizing — look at one short puzzle being solved between two robots, each armed with a portal gun. Spoiler: It involves a little portal trickery to create what is essentially a matter-bending trampoline.
It’s a short tease, but it does give a small hint at the kind of puzzle-solving teamwork that Portal 2’s co-op mode will require. Writer Eric Wolpaw also says that Portal 2’s co-op campaign will be its own storyline (involving GLaDOS’s attempt to remove humans from her tests by using those two robots for the tests instead), and it’ll be just as long as the single-player game.
