In the world of launchers, a frequent strategy developers use is to mimic the look and feel of the latest stock launchers. In the case of developer Nikao, they have released a new launcher called Epic Launcher that is based on the AOSP for Android 4.4 KitKat, but will run on any device with at least Android 4.0 or higher. If you have an older device not scheduled to get an update, you can at least get some of the look and feel of KitKat even if you can’t get all the under the hood improvements.

Epic Launcher does not include the Google Experience Launcher nor will it add Google Now. In lieu of not being able to add all of KitKat’s features, Epic Launcher does include some goodies like the ability to change the desktop grid size or change the size of icons.

Epic Launcher is free on Google Play. Just hit one of the download links below to install it if you want to give it a try.
