BioWare is well-known for starships like the Normandy and the Ebon Hawk, but they aren’t known for including space combat in their sci-fi adventures. So it comes as a pleasant surprise to learn that space combat will indeed be included in the upcoming MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic.
BioWare made the announcement at Comic-Con and confirmed the info on their official forums. The function is being described as “an alternative gameplay experience” to the normal questing and ground combat.
“In space combat, you fly your personal ship to various ‘hot spots’ on your galaxy map. From there, you will blast your way through asteroid fields, enemy fighters, frigates, destroyers, and a variety of other obstacles that will evoke memories of some of the great Star Wars space battles,” studio rep Sean Dahlberg wrote.
