A few members of Shepard’s former command rejoined his ranks in Mass Effect 2, but most didn’t. Liara was one holdout, due to her focus on catching the mysterious “Shadow Broker.” Now BioWare has announced a new piece of downloadable content to address that very plot point, entitled “Lair of the Shadow Broker.”
Details are scant, but the developer promises players can “team up” with Liara, and more details should be coming soon. This might (hopefully!) mean that she’ll rejoin the squad permanently after the mission is done. No price was mentioned, but both “Kasumi’s Stolen Memory” and the “Overlord” downloadable missions have cost 560 Microsoft Points ($7), so that’s a safe bet for this one as well.
If BioWare is planning to make the third installment a reunion of squad members from both prior games, getting Liara on-board would be a step in the right direction. This may be the first example of BioWare’s promise to bridge the gap between sequels with DLC.
