Nintendo says new game mode best suited for veteran Zelda fans who want a challenge.
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD will feature an all-new hero mode, Nintendo confirmed during a new preview of the upcoming Wii U title.
Nintendo product marketing manager Erik Peterson told GameSpot that the new hero mode is aimed at longtime series fans looking for a challenge.
“For those veteran Zelda fans, people who really love a challenge, hero mode is going to be great,” Peterson said.
As part of the hero mode, all enemies will do double damage and no hearts can be found in the environment, Peterson explained.
This game mode, similar to the one from The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, can be toggled on or off when a player loads up their save file. This will allow players to try out the advanced difficulty option without being locked in for their entire playthrough.
The hero mode was first revealed by an Amazon listing last month.
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD launches in October. The game will be playable at PAX Prime next week.
