A new NVIDIA Tegra 4 powered device showed up on the GFX Bench site from HP. Going by the codename “Bodhi” the device looks like it will be named the HP Slate 8 Pro when it hits the market. However, it is still not clear whether the number 8 in the name refers to a screen size of 8 inches or whether it is just an incremental model increase to replace the HP Slate 7.

The NVIDIA Tegra 4 chip will be running at 1.8GHz, much better than what HP did with the dual-core Cortex A9 found in the Slate 7. With NVIDIA’s newest chip, the device should be able to run in a nice, snappy manner and be able to keep up with some of the newer devices from Samsung or the new Nexus 7. It appears the device will come with a 1600×1200 resolution display, 2GB of RAM, a 5,000 mAh batter, a microSD card slot, and will run Android 4.2.2.

This hardware should help HP step up in the market some compared to the budget-shopper targeted Slate 7.
