A recent image discovered by a Chinese source shows a ZTE Nubia Z5 Mini, ZTE’s answer to the “mini” device market. Even though many of our readers are unlikely to get their hands on ZTE devices, in markets like China where they are a major player, ZTE seems to be following an increasingly common pattern. First they introduce a new, large, flagship device. In ZTE’s case, it was the ZTE Nubia Z5 released in the Chinese market earlier this year. A few months later, they are back with a smaller version of the device, the ZTE Nubia Z5 Mini.

The Nubia devices are a new model line for ZTE, distinct from their Grand series, intended for high-end device buyers. The Nubia Z5 was one of the first full HD 1080p devices for the Chinese market. Detailed specs for the Nubia Z5 Mini are not available, though it is expected to be smaller than the Nubia Z5 which has a 5-inch screen.

The image above is a render for the device as it gets ready to hit the retail market in China. The image below is from a Chinese regulatory approval for the ZTE NX402, which has since been confirmed at the Nubia Z5 Mini.
