Project_ShieldThe Nvidia Shield is primarily a gaming device, no question about it. But it benefits from being an Android gaming device, meaning it gets to take advantage of having basic Android features. An Nvidia released video shows how the Shield’s touchscreen display can be used to browse the web, check emails, navigate maps, and read books, among more. When browsing, the left joystick is used to scroll, while the right is used to move a cursor to select links.

I imagine most Shield owners are going to also be smartphone owners, so these could seem like unnecessary features for a gaming device. You can see it all in the video after the break.
