NVIDIA is preparing to release their Project SHIELD gaming device next month. Powered by their new Tegra 4 chip, the devices hold promise of raising the bar in mobile gaming. According to NVIDIA, more than 25 game titles are ready to be released in conjunction with the device that are tuned to take advantage of the Tegra 4′s new capabilities. Three of these titles are already available and run on Tegra 3, so they provide a nice preview.
Burn Zombie Burn
From developer Tick Tock Games, players have to survive hordes of zombies as they try to keep Daisy, a proverbial damsel in distress, from coming to harm. Burn Zombie Burn offers several game modes, arenas and challenges to whet your appetite for zombie killing. Graphics are on par with the PlayStation 3 version. Tick Tock Games will make exclusive levels available to players on SHIELD devices.
Arma Tactics THD
Developer Bohemia Interactive brings their PC gaming franchise Arma to mobile devices thanks to Tegra power. This particular version combines turn-based strategy play with an open world when players control their four-member Special Forces. The title takes advantage of Tegra-only enhancements like the ability to display more objects, better shadows, a higher geometry count, weapon effects and physics simulation. All of these enhancements produce a fabulous looking game.
Dead on Arrival 2
The final title to check out is Dead on Arrival 2 from N3V Games. This is another zombie genre title that uses a top-down, third-person view for players looking to dispatch the dead…again. The title is currently in a closed beta phase as N3V Games works on the multiplayer features of the title. If you are interested in getting in on the beta, head over to the official web site at http://www.deadonarrival2.com/beta.php to sign up.
