Game will reportedly be positioned against Forza and Gran Turismo; targeting Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Ubisoft is working on a new, next-generation racing franchise, called The Crew, according to a report by The Examiner (via Juexvideo and Futura-Techno).

The game is reportedly being developed by French studio Ivory Tower by a team made up of former Eden Games employees. According to reports, it will be targeting the Xbox One and PlayStation 4; no mention has been made if the game will also appear on current-generation consoles.

The studio’s website lists staff with previous game credits spanning Need for Speed, V-Rally, and the Test Drive Unlimited series. Unnamed sources close to the game•s development have claimed the game will be a “realistic title, possibly being positioned against Forza and Gran Turismo”.

The Ivory Tower website currently includes a range of available jobs, such as a senior gameplay programmer, which details the role as “working exclusively with Ubisoft, the Ivory Tower development studio is recruiting a Senior Gameplay Programmer to work on an ambitious project using next generation technologies”.

GameSpot contacted Ubisoft to verify the claims. A spokesperson declined, saying “Ubisoft does not comment on rumours or speculation”.
