Square Enix also announces Orthros and Typhon as latest DLC monsters.
Fans of FFXIII-2 wishing to put a futuristic spin on Serah and Noel’s threads may get what they wish for, with Square Enix revealing an unusual crossover with EA and BioWare. The company has announced that it will be selling the N7 armour from the Mass Effect series as DLC for Final Fantasy XIII-2: the same armour worn by Mass Effect series protagonist Commander Shepard.
According to a recent post by Japanese magazine Famitsu, the DLC will be available for PS3 and Xbox 360 in Japan on March 27. The former will cost 300 yen ($4) while the latter will cost 240 Microsoft points.
In addition, the same article revealed two new Coliseum Monsters for players to fight: Orthros and Typhon from Final Fantasy VI. Both creatures are part of a single monster group; if players defeat Orthros, Typhon will come into the fray. The monsters will be available on March 27; the PS3 version of the DLC will cost 400 yen ($5) while the Xbox 360 will cost 320 Microsoft points. Square Enix has yet to confirm on whether the DLC will be available outside of Japan.
Final Fantasy XIII-2 was released last January and was met with positive reviews. The game was praised for its visual design and gameplay, but was panned for its pacing and inclusion of annoying characters. For more information, check out GameSpot’s recent coverage on the title.
