Sequels are big business. Publishers are more comfortable funding already established games that have proven to be big sellers, and the majority of games coming out these days are proof of that. Just take a look at these last few months of 2011: Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Battlefield 3, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Uncharted 3.
