FIFA 12 booted from top spot after most successful Xbox 360 racing game launch in UK history; Just Dance 3 debuts in third.

Turn 10’s Forza Motorsport 4 has ended FIFA 12’s two-week reign atop the UK charts, debuting at number one. Forza 4’s critical acclaim meant that it managed the biggest-ever launch week for an Xbox 360 racing game, but it still only beat FIFA 12 (the sales of which were down 63 percent from last week) by a little over 700 sales, according to UK sales-tracking body Chart-Track.

Just Dance 3 rounded off the top three, with the Wii version following the trail blazed by the record-breaking Just Dance 2 on Nintendo’s platform. In its launch week, more than 11 copies were sold on the Wii for every one sold on Xbox 360. The PlayStation 3 version is not due for release until December.

This week saw Gears of War 3 continue its drop down the charts, falling from fourth to sixth, while Dark Souls dropped from third to seventh. There were also big debuts for Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 and Jonah Lomu Rubgy Challenge, debuting at fifth and 10th, respectively.
Zumba Fitness continues to feature in the top 10, this week at number eight, with id Software’s Rage and Codemasters’ F1 2011 rounding off the top 10.
